Finnish postal operator Itella today announced it has nearly doubled the number of businessessending mail via its Netposti secure electronic communications service.
A partnership contract signed with Apix Messaging Oy, a message forwarding company, will add3,000 new companies to the sender network, which will almost double the number of senders inNetposti. The new companies to be included represent many different sectors, such as housingcompanies and water and road cooperatives.
Netposti’s sender network previously contained about 5,000 companies, including more than 600public administration senders. Itella said that one frequent request in its regular Netposticustomer satisfaction survey is for more senders to be added to the service.
The expansion of the sender network can be seen in the Netposti customer volume, which grewto over 400,000 users last summer. However, this is still a relatively small proportion of theoverall Finnish population of 5.4 million, of whom about 90 per cent have internet access.
Over 9 million electronic letters were delivered to consumers through Netposti in 2011, a 63per cent rise on the previous year. In comparison, Itella’s volume of printed addressed lettersdropped by 2 per cent last year.
“Netposti is growing faster than any other operator in the market. By selecting all senders, the customer can obtain more content in Netposti,” stressed Tommi Björklund, director in charge ofNetposti.
With Netposti, customers can receive and archive bills, pay slips, laboratory results andother important official documents, which customers receive one or two days faster than printedones. Netposti includes a mailbox, archive, thousands of official forms in electronic format andfacsimile editions of magazines from a wide variety of publishers.
