Finnish postal operator Itella has recorded rapid growth for NetPosti, its secure electronicservice for consumers, which is already used by more than 400,000 customers.
About a year ago, the user volume amounted to 300,000, which means a very rapid increase inusers during the last 12 months. More than one thousand new senders including major employersjoined NetPosti in the past year. With the largest number of senders in Finland, the servicecurrently comprises more than 5,000 companies, including over 600 public administrationsenders.
“Finland’s largest network of senders makes it easier for customers to take care of electronictasks. Users can route most of their official mail to one secure location,” Jatta Rantala, ProductManager of the NetPosti service, said.
NetPosti enables customers to receive and archive bills, pay slips, laboratory results and otherimportant official documents electronically, which customers receive one or two days faster thanprinted ones. The archive in NetPosti is owned by the user, and switching banks, for example, hasno impact on it.
“Users are happy about the fact that they can get their confidential mail, such as pay slips, inNetPosti faster than printed ones, and can access them at any time anywhere. Official mail isstored in the NetPosti archive for seven years free of charge, and important information is foundquickly whenever needed,” Rantala added.
He stressed that volumes of electronic deliveries have recently increased, in contrast to thedecline in printed ones. Nine million electronic letters were sent via the service last year.
In a customer satisfaction survey, most of the respondents (80%) said that the service meetstheir needs well or in an excellent way.
Meanwhile, the Finnish Competition Authority has approved Itella’s acquisition of the groupagelogistics business of the Finnish rail-freight operator VR Group, three months after it hasinitially been announced. The purchasing agreement aims to create synergies between the twonational public companies saving costs and streamlining operations. The takeover will be effectedthrough Itella Logistics.
