Hermes UK has opened two depots in the South East of England expanding its network in thecountry as it expects parcel volumes to increase during the peak Christmas period and after.
The site in West Thurrock is a completely new location comprising 4,831 sqm of warehousing,office and ancillary space. The warehouse includes six loading bays and the fenced site providessecure loading and yard areas. The depot is conveniently located near the Lakeside Shopping Centreand the QE2 Dartford Bridge, with access to the A13 and M25 highways.
Hermes expects over 60 jobs to be created in West Thurrock in management, administration,warehousing and driving.
The second facility in Maidstone replaces an existing depot in Rochester doubling warehousecapacity. Located at Quarry Wood Industrial Estate giving good access to the UK motorway networkvia the M20, the 4,366 sqm depot includes 2,974 sqm of warehousing space six loading bays and 712sqm of office space, providing a maximum throughput of 40,000 parcels per night.

These latest developments are part of a nationwideinitiative that will see a number of enhancements to our depot and hub network in the build-up tothe peak Christmas period.”
