DHL Express Norway has launched a new flight between Oslo and Leipzig deploying an Airbus A300600 freighter to modernise its fleet and increase capacity by 10%.
The company said the freight volumes it handles are increasing with growing transportationneeds. Therefore, it has decided to put into operation a new aircraft type flying from Oslo to itsEuropean air hub at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany.
Roger Chorus, country manager at DHL Express Norway, said: “We transport around 25,000 kg offish to Korea, in addition to regular exports, every day and we are improving our service byadopting a more modern aircraft.”
Last month, DHL Express launched a new flight from Kiev, Ukraine, to the Leipzig hub to increasecapacity and reduce delivery times for the Ukrainian market.
Both flights are part of DHL’s strategy to expand its air capacity as volumes continue to growdespite the uncertain world economy. Under its ‘virtual global airline’ strategy, DHL Express hasformed financial joint ventures with Lufthansa Cargo (Aerologic), Atlas Air (Polar Air Cargo) andCathay Pacific (Air Hong Kong) in recent years to provide dedicated flights on key trade lanes suchas Europe-Asia, transpacific and intra-Asia, has acquired several own planes for transatlanticflights, and has major ACMI agreements with cargo carriers such as Southern Air and KalittaAir.
