Fast-growing Asian freight group Kerry Logistics is continuing its expansion in the region withnew offices in Myanmar (Burma) and in Sri Lanka.
The company said the new offices were part of its strategy of expanding its presence and networkin emerging markets across Asia and would complement its existing freight network in Vietnam,Thailand, India and Bangladesh.
Kenneth Ko, executive director for international freight forwarding, commented: “The new officein Myanmar will help strengthen our growing capabilities in the Greater Mekong Delta while SriLanka is one of the fastest-growing shipping and logistics hubs in South Asia. Our customers aredriving the process and we are seeing growing demand for diversified logistics services across theregion. We are investing in our network to better support our customers’ supply chains.
Last month, Kerry started the construction of an 11,000 sqm warehouse in the Song Thang area ofHo Chi Minh City in Vietnam to meet growing demand from customers for storage space locally. Thefacility, to be completed in the first quarter of 2013, increases the total number of KerryLogistics warehouses in the Song Thang area to nine, with a total capacity of 62,000 sqm.
Also last month, the company acquired 55,000 sqm of land in Rayong Province, Thailand to build a35,000 sqm logistics centre for the automotive industry. To be completed in the second quarter of2013, the new facility in Thailand will offer flexible solutions to large and small customers bothon-site and off-site.
