Kerry Logistics expands in Vietnam and Thailand with new operational facilities

Fast-growing Asian freight group Kerry Logistics has started the construction of a new majorwarehouse in the Song Thang area of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and plans to build a new logistics

centre for the automotive sector in Rayong Province, Thailand.
 
Due to be completed in the first quarter of 2013, the new 11,000 sqm warehouse in Ho Chi MinhCity is being built to meet growing demand from customers for storage space locally. The newfacility increases the total number of Kerry Logistics warehouses in the Song Thang area to nine,with a total capacity of 62,000 sqm.
 
Rosa Du, General Director of Kerry Logistics in Vietnam commented: “We have been building ournetwork of warehouses across Vietnam and now have extensive coverage in the north, central andsouthern regions of the country. In Song Thang, a major centre for freight and logistics services,we have built significant capacity to meet growing local demand for quality warehouse space.”
 
Kerry Logistics is continuing its expansion in Vietnam, following the opening of a logisticscentre in Hanoi in 2011. The 10,000 sqm facility offers a broad range of logistics services for theelectronics and hi-tech, fashion and garments, food and beverage, and industrial sectors. In 2010,the company opened another 9,000 sqm facility in Danang, central Vietnam.
 
In Thailand, Kerry Logistics has acquired 55,000 sqm of land at the Eastern SeaboardIndustrial Estate (“ESIE”) in Rayong Province to build a 35,000 sqm logistics centre for theautomotive industry. The ESIE is focused on car manufacturing with a cluster of more than 500automotive factories. Global brands such as General Motors, Ford, Mazda and Suzuki have alreadyestablished operations in the zone. The value of logistics services in the automotive zone wasvalued at $66 million in 2011 and is expected to increase by more than 25% by 2015.
 
To be completed in the second quarter of 2013, the new facility in Thailand will offerflexible solutions to large and small customers both on-site and off-site. Other services include acovered storage area, inventory control, processing and packaging, as well as specialised servicessuch as automotive pre-assembly, sub-assembly, sequencing, and JIT delivery.
 
Through its global network, Kerry Logistics aims to offer one-stop services includingcollection of components from manufacturers in their respective country of origin, consolidation,shipping and forwarding, customs clearance, container handling and receipt on arrival in Thailand.
