DHL Express opens larger depot near Paris

DHL Express has continued its network expansion in France with the opening of a larger depot closeto Paris.



The company has opened a new 1,600 sqm branch at Collégien, Marne-la-Vallée, which is aboutsix times larger than the previous depot in the area and can process 1,200 parcels an hour on itsautomated sorting equipment.

DHL Express France said the move to a larger site resulted from a strong rise in volumes inthe Seine-et-Marne region, which now total about 2,000 parcels a day.

Brice Devinoy, the company’s operations director, said: “This investment is part of the majorplan to strengthen our network in France, which has already led us to move or redesign about 20locations in the last 18 months. With an integrated network of 45 sites in France spread over thecountry, DHL Express offers the best geographical coverage in France.”

The new Marne-la-Vallée branch, located about 30km east of Paris at the junction of the A4and A104 motorways, will complement other branches on the outskirts of the French capital. The Ilede France region, which surrounds and includes Paris, accounts for 28,000 shipments a day, which isabout half of DHL Express’ French volumes.
