SDA Express Courier, the parcel and express subsidiary of Poste Italiane Group, has become ashareholder of Eurodis, the European logistics network mainly owned by Austrian Post and
Trans-o-flex, following its decision to become a member of Eurodis last October.SDA started its operative collaboration in the Eurodis network for combined freight and parcelsin March this year and has now acquired 12.4% of the shares from the main Eurodis shareholdersTrans-o-flex and Austrian Post
Through its membership of Eurodis, SDA also launched a new international product, RoadEurope, inApril. “We are pleasantly surprised by the high demand and the dynamic volume development of ourRoadEurope offer,” SDA CEO Valter Catoni commented.
Carsten Siebe, General Manager for Eurodis, explained: “Thanks to the positive volumedevelopment and the good quality already − after a short period of operative cooperation − thepartnership with SDA gives a new impulse for all Eurodis members and customers. We are lookingforward to future impulses from SDA for the further development of our network.”

This opens up new business possibilities in Italy, the fourthbiggest European logistics market, for all Eurodis partners and their customers.”
The distinctive feature of Eurodis compared to other freight forwarding or parcel networks isthe joint transport of palletised goods and parcels within one network – which Eurodis calls ‘combifreight’ – allowing members to ship products on pallets up to 800 kg. Shipments can be pickedup in different countries but delivered to the recipient together. Besides conventional shipments,Eurodis partners also handle hazardous goods and express shipments.
Founded in Italy in 1984 as an express courier, SDA has been developing new strategic areas overthe years through an increasingly diverse and comprehensive range of services. Today, it aims tooffer integrated services including express and deferred delivery as a global partner for B2B andB2C distribution. Its network includes 89 terminals, 11 hubs and mini hubs, two gateways, about3,500 vehicles and a team of over 3,100 employees. The company was bought by Poste Italiane in1998.
