Austrian manufacturer KEBA supplies more parcel terminals in Luxembourg

KEBA parcel terminals in Luxembourg

The Austrian parcel terminal manufacturer KEBA has received an order from Luxembourg’s last miledelivery provider BPM-Lux for five automated terminals adding to the other five already ordered in

2008.

Doubling the number of its KePol machines, BPM-Lux manages the purchasing process for onlineshoppers ordering from foreign websites that do not deliver to other countries by picking up thegoods in the respective countries and shipping them back to Luxembourg for delivery to endcustomers.

The countries covered by BPM-Lux include USA, Germany, France, UK, Belgium and Luxembourgitself. For a small monthly fee of €5, customers can get their products shipped from thesecountries to BPM’s local terminal in Luxembourg from where they can collect them on a 24/7 basisfrom one of the ten BPM parcel stations.

As a service of RT-Log SA, a privately-owned Luxemburg logistics provider, BPM-Lux was foundedin 2005 offering customers attractive last mile solutions, irrespective of the postal or parcelcarrier operator.

Through the expansion of its terminal network, customers now have more locations to pick uptheir orders from with terminals installed in the proximity of filling stations and supermarkets. After an SMS notification, customers can collect their parcel on their way back home. Goods areaccepted from all postal companies and alternative logistics suppliers.

KEBA explained that international online trade has emerged as a new trend with growinge-commerce due to the prevailing general economic conditions, exchange rate fluctuations and theavailability of goods in other countries which radically changed consumer behaviour. The challengethereby is that the recipients are often not at home when the goods are delivered while some onlinetraders do not deliver to other countries.

Robert Thiemann, the BPM-Lux / RT-Log SA founder said: “For us, flexibility and reliability arecentral elements in customer satisfaction. The first five parcel machines, which we received fromKEBA proved to be effective in practical operation and also convinced our customers. The modularsolution fully met our requirements and the systems are of top quality. It was these facts thatpersuaded us to order another five parcel machines from KEBA.”
