FedEx Express has launched a new Airbus A300 flight connecting Malaysia to global markets andincreasing cargo capacity by more than 30 per cent for businesses shipping into and out of
Malaysia.The A300 will operate six days a week from Monday to Saturday between Kuala Lumpur and Penangand the FedEx Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China. With a capacity of over 40 tonnes, thefreighter provides an additional 31 per cent in cargo capacity.
“At FedEx, we are committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience and providing ourcustomers in Malaysia with greater access to markets and opportunities in Asia Pacific and theglobal marketplace,” Ramesh Kumar Singam, managing director, FedEx Express, Malaysia and Brunei,said.
FedEx has been focused on Malaysia since 1989. With 37 flights per week, the company said it hasa higher number of dedicated flights in the country than any other international express companyoperating its own flights in and out of Malaysia to Asian and US destinations.
“The deployment of the A300 freight service not only strengthens FedEx operations and itsnetwork, it also reinforces the FedEx commitment to supporting Malaysia’s long-term economicgrowth,” Kumar Singam added.
Malaysia’s trade growth is projected to grow 139 per cent from 2012 – 2026, according to theHSBC Global Connections Trade Forecast. The report also predicted that Malaysia will grow at anannual rate of 3.3 per cent over the next five years, generating even stronger growth of 6.85 percent from 2017 to 2021.
