DHL Express is targeting SMEs around the world with a new MyDHL online customer portal that itclaims offers simple shipping compared to the existing offerings of rivals such as UPS, TNT and
FedEx.“The new MyDHL portal is a perfect ‘virtual’ extension to a customer’s shipping department, andmakes international shipping with DHL easier than ever before,” said David Neumann, Head ofe-Commerce for DHL Express Europe. “By making the full suite of DHL web shipping tools available inone location with easy access, we hope to simplify our customers’ lives and to ensure they have thewhole world at their fingertips.”
MyDHL, which was launched earlier this year, has so far gone live in more than 50 countries inEurope, Asia and other regions. “We expect the Tier One country rollout to be finished by Q3 and wewill have more than 100 countries live by the end of the year,” Neumann told CEP-Research. “Fromthere we will continue to expand to other countries.”
Asked how the DHL portal differs from existing similar competitor offerings, Neumann said theportal had been designed in line with customer wishes. “This is geared to the needs of SMEcustomers,” he said. “We did not try to integrate everything we have. The principle issimplicity. Customers stay on myDHL and do not get lost. This is the platform for them to get theirbookings done.”
The online customer portal offers a single login and quick access to DHL Express services,shipping and tracking solutions. Customers can use the portal to access a range of DHL tools,including WebShipping, its online shipping solution, ProView, its web-based tracking service andImport Express Online, its online shipping tool for imports. These services are already availableon separate sections of the global DHL.com platform, which is used in over 140 countries,
With MyDHL, shippers can manage multiple users and contacts, request new accounts, schedulepickups, track packages and perform a wide range of other online shipping operations all in onelocation. Predetermined preferences, automatic updates and streamlined processes mean that thetools can help reduce time spent performing routine tasks in the shipping process.
Complementing the new MyDHL portal is the Small Business Solutions section at DHL.com. Thisresource is regularly updated to feature the latest customs requirements, trade terminology andadvice on the quickest routes to markets and most efficient shipping options. Important trade,business and cultural facts for individual countries are published on the site, with links touseful resources such as chambers of commerce, export agencies and international tradeassociations.
