TNT Post UK creates 400 new jobs through mail delivery trial in West London

TNT Post UK’s end-to-end delivery service in West London that started in mid-April this year hasalready created 400 new jobs with the company hoping to extend the number of postal delivery staff

to 20,000 in the next five years when rolling out the service across the country.

Supporting the job creation opportunities, two Members of Parliament have visited the recentlyopened TNT Post depots in West London to meet with new team members of the rapidly growing mailsorting and distribution facilities.

MP Angela Bray, who visited the new depot in Ealing, the suburban area of West London,commented: “I am pleased that companies like TNT Post are investing in Ealing and creating jobs forlocal people. The jobs are helping those who have just left education and finding it hard getting afoothold in the workplace and are flexible allowing parents to return to work after havingchildren. I look forward to seeing more TNT posties on the streets in the coming months.”

The other MP, Dominic Grieve, visited the TNT depot at Iver in Buckinghamshire, where thecompany now employs 209 staff on a three shift pattern. “I am delighted that TNT Post UK continuesto expand in Buckinghamshire. The company is investing and creating significant numbers of newjobs,” he said.

TNT Post UK CEO Nick Wells said: “TNT Post is proud to be creating many jobs in London and willwork hard to provide many more in the years to come.”

After the announcement of TNT Post’s mail delivery trials, Royal Mail expressed fears of ‘cherry-picking’ by TNT Post claiming that unregulated competition in the mail industry seriouslychallenges the universal postal service and six-day delivery.
