Expanding UK courier company CitySprint is buying a regional company near London in its latestacquisition to extend its nationwide network and customer base.
The privately-owned company announced yesterday that it will take over Scarlet Couriers, basedwest of London. As of July 1, 2012, all SameDay, UK overnight parcels and International courieroperations currently provided by Scarlet Couriers in Bracknell, and all the SameDay Courieroperations provided by Scarlet Couriers in Slough will transfer to CitySprint.
“It is business as usual for all Scarlet’s customers’ day to day needs. Services will be run bythe same staff from the same office, so there will be completely uninterrupted service,” CitySprintstressed. “As the UK’s largest same day courier company, the CitySprint network offers new andextended services to Scarlet customers. Both companies share a commitment to excellent customerservice, so we are confident that this development will benefit Scarlet’s customers,” it added.
CitySprint has a network of 35 service centres and more than 2,000 vehicles and couriers acrossBritain. Operating in all major mainland conurbations, the company offers same-day courier andlogistics services as well as domestic and international overnight deliveries, and handles somethree million urgent deliveries a year. Its revenues are not disclosed.
Over the last five years, the company has bought a number of regional and local courier firms,and remains on the acquisition trail. One of the largest acquisitions was that of Lewis Day andMedical Services last November.
