City Link offers cheaper and convenient mail delivery alternative to Royal Mail

City Link

British express parcels carrier City Link has launched a new hybrid mail service Click&Postfor customers, SMEs in particular, to send their letters for less than the price of a second-class

stamp, as a cheaper alternative to the recently increased Royal Mail prices.

The service follows Royal Mail’s largest price increase since 1975 now requiring customers topay 60p for a first-class letter and 50p for a second-class letter.

With Click&Post, customers save both money and time with the letter they send electronicallyto City Link being printed, folded, inserted in an envelope and delivered for less than Royal Mailpostal charges. The cost for sending a single letter in black and white in a C5 envelope costs just39 pence plus VAT with Click&Post which not only includes the postage but also the stationeryand labour costs providing substantial savings, City Link explained. The service requires no majorIT installation and is quick and easy-to-use.

To use the service, customers send the letter over on a secure, data encrypted service at anytime of the day or night and City Link does the rest, with a choice of first or second-classpost.

Tim Brown, Sales and Marketing Director of City Link, said: “Our Click&Post Service is aclear example of City Link’s strategy to develop a portfolio of services which not only meet theneeds of its customers but deliver tangible benefits. It offers far more than delivery – it takesthe hassle out of sending mail. It is ideal for small businesses, freeing up their staff from timeconsuming admin work to concentrate on the core business.”

Click&Post can be accessed online, and customers can pay as they go using Sage Pay, aftercreating their account.

In its latest survey carried out by YouGov, City Link reveals that nearly half (49%) of smallbusinesses in the UK see the delivery company they use as a reflection of their company brand.

Brown explained: “For many smaller British firms, the employees of the delivery partner canoften be the only personnel that their clients will come into contact with face to face. It isimperative then that City Link presents itself in a way that enhances the reputation of ourcustomers. We also know that delivering on time is a vital element of this customer journey, and weare proud of our 98.5% record.”

The research also showed that less than one in ten (8%) British SMEs felt that there was a verygood dedicated SME offering by delivery companies. “Small and medium businesses will have verydifferent delivery needs compared to their bigger industry colleagues. One size does not fit allwhen it comes to delivering on the demands of these companies and this is why we will launch adedicated SME offering,” he added.
