DHL today launched a new multi-modal direct delivery solution from Asia to Europe forconsolidated shipments offering faster transit times and lower overall costs, and targeted in
particular at the technology sector.DHL Global Forwarding, Freight, the group’s air, sea and road freight division, has extended theDHL Door-To-More product already offered successfully within Asia Pacific since 2010 to keyintercontinental lanes. The service is now offered out of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore to over50 countries across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and new outbound gateways will beadded soon.
DHL Door-To-More offers enhanced visibility, flexibility and cost-effective transportationvia road and air for technology and other goods, the company said. Customers benefit from theshorter time-to-market offered by the solution, which translates into faster availability of goods.Typical transit times for the Asia-Europe air-road service are 5-6 days from consignor toconsignee.
Shipments are collected from clients in Asia, flown to Europe as consolidated shipments andcleared through customs as bulk before being deconsolidated at road freight crossdock terminals andthen delivered as individual consignments to final customers in Europe. Costs are reduced byshipping and clearing goods as consolidated shipments.
The DHL Door-To-More solution offers streamlined and seamless operations including customsclearance, ensuring the swift and reliable delivery of individual shipments to multiple businessconsignees. A single billing service, as well as end-to-end online track and trace capabilities,gives customers maximum visibility over both their costs and their consignments with minimumadministration, the company added.
