FedEx Express this week opened its 19th new depot in France in the last nine months with a newbranch at Rouen in Normandy.
The 1,500 sqm facility, where 19 vehicles are based for local collections and deliveries,employs 17 staff and is linked by road to the company’s European air hub at Paris Charles de Gaulleairport.
Since last October, 18 other branches, mostly fairly small, have been opened by the company inFrance. These are located in Angers, Beauvais-Creil, Metz, Montpellier, Mulhouse, Nantes, Orléans,Rennes, Strasbourg, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Tours, Le Mans, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Grenobleand Valence.
As of February this year, FedEx had a network of 22 branches across France with some 700 staffand 215 vehicles apart from the Paris hub where 2,300 staff are employed. It now has more than 30sites.
The expansion of FedEx’s own branch network in France comes parallel to the agreed acquisitionof French domestic parcels operator TATEX, which has a dense network, with a central hub in Paris,six regional hubs and 29 local centres.
