DHL Express has invested in Portugal with the opening of a €5 million new facility at Portoairport in the north of the country.
The 3,835 sqm terminal is located on a 11,780 sqm area at Francisco Sá Carneiro airport and hasdocking doors for six semi-trailers, four vans and 44 trucks. Up to 2,000 shipments an hour can besorted there and an average volume of 3,300 parcels a day is expected.
DHL said that the new facility would enable it to speed up handling and to provide fastercollections and deliveries in northern Portugal.
The company’s Portugal country manager Américo Fernandes said the investment reflected Portugal’s “growth potential” and suggested that the new facility could be used for cargo heading for Brazil,North Africa and Angola.
