As the leading wine mail order company in Germany and part of Hawesko Holding AG, HAWESKO iscontinuously expanding its market presence thanks to the e-commerce boom. Founded in 1964, thecompany supplies its customers with premium wines from all major wine growing regions in the world,including world famous and exclusive brands.

When transporting the wines to the customer, the company relies on special logistics solutionsthat Hermes has developed for wine merchants. “With a sensitive product such as wine, the customermust be assured that it is delivered undamaged,” Frank Iden, managing director at Hermes Germany,stressed. With a special ‘soft mode’ for sorting fragile items and additional services such asexpress delivery or delivery on the requested date, Hermes has adjusted to the special needs ofwine shippers across the entire process chain.

The new truck illustrating the successful cooperation between the two companies is deployed, inparticular, for deliveries to large customers ranging from 5-star restaurants to the Imtech Arena,the stadium of city football team HSV. This way, hundreds of promotionally effective contacts aregenerated daily. “This is a win-win situation for both companies – because when our clientsincrease their publicity and grow further, we will profit from it through higher shipping volumes,”Iden added.

Frank Göbels, Managing Director, Internationale Wein Logistik GmbH, which is an internallogistics provider for companies of the Hawesko Group, said: “In the past years, HAWESKO’s shippingvolumes have continuously risen with more than 1.5 million shipments transported with Hermes in2011 alone. What is important for us is the combination of high standards, for example, when itcomes to delivery times and the delivery rate, with individual extra services provided byHermes.”
