DHL Express France has successfully handled all the transportation during the Monaco Grand Prixin Monte Carlo last weekend as the official logistics partner of Formula 1.
At the sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship 2012, DHL was responsible for thedelivery of cars, fuel, stands and television equipment and the Formula 1 Paddock Club includingtransportation by air, sea and road.
Everything had to be done at great speed as the previous Grand Prix took place only two weeksearlier in Barcelona with around 30 tons of cargo per team to be transported 500 km from Barcelonato Monaco on time so the stands could be set up.
However, DHL’s mission does not stop at the entrance. Between the races, engineers are busyworking on new ways to improve the cars. If a part has a defect, mechanics begin immediately todesign a new, stronger one. But whether the piece is new or improved, it must arrive in good timeat the circuit which in turn is DHL’s task to ensure.
DHL said it is extremely well prepared to compete in this race against time, particularlythrough its participation in the DHL Fastest Lap Trophy Award. Last-minute deliveries are crucialfor many reasons and DHL’s dedicated team makes sure it meets the specific needs of teams, organisers and sponsors. Shipments to and from a circuit can be delivered within 24 hours viaexpress flights.
Through its effective global network, DHL operates all modes of transport mobilising planes, helicopters, trucks and even boats in no time for urgent shipments to and from the fivecontinents.
With 20 years of experience in motor sports, DHL’s logistics experts ensure optimal planningwith a comprehensive list of carriage regulations and customs set up before the beginning of eachseason. For example, they have to keep in mind that the import of timber is prohibited inAustralia, China and Malaysia. The logistics managers at DHL need to know the specifics of eachcountry in detail and guarantee the implementation of all regulations as the slightest mistake canlead to days or even weeks of delays in delivery of materials.
