FedEx Express has expanded in Germany with the opening of three stations in the south-western stateof Baden-Württemberg.
The new branches in Heilbronn, Ulm and Villingen-Schwenningen sort express shipments from thesurrounding regions for onward delivery in Europe or worldwide.
So far FedEx has operated from four branches in Baden-Württemberg, in Freiburg, Karlsruhe,Mannheim and Stuttgart.
The US express company said the latest openings, which follow a new station in Berlin and thelaunch of B777 flights from Cologne to Memphis, are part of its long-term growth strategy inGermany and Europe.
“FedEx offers rapid and reliable connections, whether between markets in Europe or around theworld. With its strong export-based economy, Baden-Württemberg is a highly attractive location forus,” said Carl Graham, Managing Director Operations, Central and Eastern Europe. “With theexpansion of the station network in Germany, we are continuing our capacity of expanding ourservice capacity and our market position through strategic investments,” he added.
Baden-Württemberg, which is known for its automotive and machine production sectors, is oneof Germany’s top export regions alongside Bavaria and North Rhine – Westphalia. Its top exportdestinations are the USA, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and China, according to Germanauthorities.
