Ceva Logistics has launched a Less than Truck Load (LTL) cross-border road trucking servicebetween China and Singapore competing with similar services offered by TNT, DHL, Kerry and other
express and freight operators.The LTL service will start operating on three initial cross-border lanes from Shenzhen (China)to Penang (Malaysia); from Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) to Shenzhen in China, and from Singapore to KualaLumpur (Malaysia). These lanes are heavily travelled routes and critical links in companies’ supplychains. Ceva intends to increase the number of LTL lanes over the next two years, includingShenzhen to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok.
The new service will enhance Ceva’s existing cross-border road freight solution in Asia Pacificwhich runs from Singapore to China with an average of 500 trips each month for variousmultinational customers in the region. It provides an integrated and cost-effective option forcustomers who need to balance speed and timely shipments throughout Asia with Full Truck Load (FTL)services, Ceva said.
The new LTL services will leverage Ceva’s established FTL regional network offering a widerrange of services and greater choice between LTL and FTL for faster response and deliverytimes.

The new service follows similar launches several freight and express operators in recent years.TNT’s Asia Road Network, launched in 2005, stretches from southern China to Singapore, coveringseven countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China). DHL offers roadtransport services in Southeast Asia through both Global Forwarding and Express.
Other important operators in the Asian road freight market include Kerry Logistics, NipponExpress and Schenker. However, the Asia road freight market remains highly fragmented with a smallnumber of international companies and many local firms operating only on selected trade lanes.
