GLS takes over logistics for European Film Awards 2012

GLS has been selected as the new official logistics partner for the European Film Awardsceremony.

Until now, TNT Express has been the official logistic partner of the event for many years.

As part of the sponsorship agreement, GLS will be responsible for shipping the chosen films tothe members of the European Film Academy (EFA) for judging and will also transport the awards tothe gala and delivery a personal copy to the stars. The EFA will be awarding the “European Oscars”for the 25th time in December 2012.

“As Europe is our core market, the European idea has a special significance for us,” GLS CEORico Back said. “We are delighted to support European cinema with what we do best: deliveringparcels reliable and safely.”

The 2,500 EFA members from 37 countries, with many well-known personalities among them, willreceive the DVDs to select their nominations in September with GLS ensuring punctual delivery soall the judges have equal chances to cast their vote.

The EFA is also entrusting the delivery of the awards to its logistics partner. Prior to theevent, GLS will pick up the silver female statuettes from the London jeweller Theo Fennell and willtransport them to the venue on Malta.

Due to the winners being kept strictly confidential, the statuettes are not engraved before theawards ceremony and will be engraved only after the festive gala. The last step for GLS will be todeliver them to the stars.

“We will work closely together with the Film Academy and the celebrities to ensure that eachEuropean Film Award reaches its proper destination,” Back added.
 
GLS stressed that its entire system is set up with a focus on security with parcels scans atall major gateways as well as alarm technology.
