PostNL Parcels wins contract extension from Belgian healthcare firm

Trans-o-flex Belgium, recently acquired by PostNL Parcels, has won a contract extension with theBelgian healthcare company Omega Pharma for another three years.

Headquartered in Nazareth (Belgium), Omega Pharma is a leading provider for over-the-counter(OTC) medicines and personal care products in Belgium. It operates in 35 countries across Europeand in selected emerging markets.

Trans-o-flex Belgium has been the distributor for Omega Pharma’s B2B consignments in Belgiumsince 1987 when the company was founded. As part of the contract, the company that has now becomePostNL Parcel Belgium handles 15,000 pallets and 500,000 parcels annually.

PostNL Parcels has expanded its B2B operations in the Netherlands and Belgium with theacquisition of trans-o-flex’s loss-making local activities from Austrian Post for an undisclosedsum. The purchase also means that the Dutch postal operator will join the Eurodis network, takingover the two companies’ 7.2% shareholding in the partner network, which offers B2B shipments to 34European countries.

From its early beginnings 25 years ago, Omega Pharma CEO Marc Coucke has carefully consideredeach step in his company’s path to growth. One very important element of this growth has been thecompany’s trust in suppliers who place high priority on transport, PostNL added. Omega Pharma andPostNL are now discussing ways to optimise transport as a response to possible expansion of OmegaPharma’s activities.
