PostNL gets mobile with prepaid services in Netherlands

PostNL has extended its product range with prepaid mobile telephony services and will startselling SIM card packages and Combi packages featuring a mobile phone and a SIM card at 2,000 post

offices in the Netherlands.

PostNL Mobiel’s service follows its customer research responding to demand for mobile telephonyper second. As part of the new service, customers do not have to pay a call set-up fee. Calls aremade via the reliable network of KPN, the leading telecommunications and ICT service provider inthe Netherlands, and customers can keep their own number. They will also be able to use thecountry’s largest retail network of more than 2,000 PostNL Post Offices with many of themconveniently situated in stores and supermarkets.

The Gewoon Prepaid combi package costs € 19.95 and includes a SIM card, a Nokia 100 phone and €2.50 calling credits. The Gewoon Prepaid SIM package costs € 9.95, including € 10 calling credits.Gewoon Prepaid was especially developed for people who want to be reachable, with a minimal amountof small print. If a customer buys Gewoon Prepaid, he or she can walk out the shop making a call,without obligations, PostNL explained.

For customers wanting to have a certain monthly credit on their phones, PostNL developed GewoonPrepaid Zeker automatically topping up the calling credit with a certain amount on a monthly basis.For people calling more, sending more text message or using the internet more frequently, theso-called bundles were created. Customers calling and texting a lot can choose Call &Text-bundle while internet-bundle targets the internet savvy customers.

There’s always one close by.”

PostNL processes 8.7 billion addressed postal items (including 106 million parcels) every yearand delivers to addresses in the Benelux, Germany, the UK and Italy. Formerly called TNT Post,PostNL focuses on mail, parcels and e-commerce as its key areas of activity. The company employssome 65,500 people and generated a turnover of nearly €4.3 billion in 2011.
