GLS Belgium enhances online shopping through parcel shop delivery

GLS ShopDelivery-Service

GLS Belgium has launched a new solution called ShopDelivery-Service targeting private customersfor their parcels ordered online to arrive within the best delivery times to one of the company’s

parcel shops located across the country.

Customers who order online do not want to wait a long time for the delivery yet privaterecipients, especially those who work, are often not at home at the time of delivery, GLSexplained.

The new ShopDelivery-Service allows online shoppers to receive their goods easily by gettingtheir parcels delivered directly at the GLS parcel shop of their choice selected from 160 locationsspread across Belgium and then pick them up during the opening hours.

“Thanks to this service, we take into account the increasing mobility of society and the rise ine- commerce,” Luc De Schrijver, General Manager GLS Belgium and Luxemburg, said. Even if therecipient is absent, he/she will receive his package quickly and reliably. Moreover, it is possibleto choose the most appropriate location depending on individual habits, GLS added.

Depending on the offer of the retailer, customers can choose online the adress of theirpreferred parcel shop or name it when ordering via phone or in written form. Once the parcel isavailable at the parcel shop selected by the recipient, he/she is informed per e-mail or sms andcan pick up the parcel within the next ten working days. If the parcel is not picked within fivedays, the recipient gets a reminder call. Optionally, the sender can also be informed.

This service is not only attractive for individuals but also for enterprises with mobile teams. They can save time and money as their technicians can get their items delivered to one of the GLSparcel shops located in the area of their activities, GLS added.

GLS Belgium opened its first parcel shop in 2005 and now counts a network of 160 locationsnationwide. By the end of 2012, it expects to increase the number to 200.
