USPS gets its Premium Forwarding Service online

USPS has made its Premium Forwarding Service available on the internet as part of its onlineproducts that can be accessed via its website usps.com.



Now customers can access the Premium Forwarding Service, which USPS claims is extremelypopular, via their accounts on USPS.com. Previously it was only available at post offices.

With the service, customers can always receive their important mail shipments even if theycannot access their mailbox directly for longer time periods. For $15.25 a week including anenrollment fee of $15.00, USPS holds their mail, packages it up and reships it to them by PriorityMail.

“Premium Forwarding Service makes your mail a Priority even when you’re away from home, andnow that it’s available at usps.com, it’s easier to use than ever before,” said Kelly Sigmon, vicepresident, Channel Access for the US Postal Service. “Even while on the go, your mail can go withyou,” she added.

USPS explained that online enrollment at usps.com streamlines the process for using PremiumForwarding Service. Through the creation of an account on USPS.com, the adress information willpre-populated so customers no longer need to go to a post office to enroll, modify, or cancel theirPremium Forwarding Service request. They can sign up for any duration of time from 2 weeks up to 1year.

Premium Forwarding Service is among four new online enhancements at usps.com. Open 24/7, it’sone of the most frequently visited government sites with more than 413 million visits in 2011averaging more than 1.3 million visitors each day, USPS added.
