UPS Germany makes Paperless Invoice for air freight available via WorldShip

UPS Germany has made its Paperless Invoice service now available for air freight shipping viaits Worldship system with a new software update enabling customers to process all shipments

electronically.

The digital service saves time, money and trees, the company said. The free-of-charge solutionenables customers to operate in a more efficient way by integrating order processing, shipmentpreparation and commercial invoice data while saving the environment as less paper is used.

The software transmits the data to customer offices before shipping avoiding difficultiesarising in respect to paper documents. Through the digital storage, the number of errors mademanually is considerably reduced. The service also avoids submitting incomplete paperwork which isthe main reason for the delays of international shipments.

“There are various benefits for customers from the Paperless Invoice for air freight: Forexample, the required commercial invoice for customs clearance can be generated directly during theordering process and transmitted electronically. The paperless online handling helps consideringall relevant data to minimise transport delays due to missing information. In addition, the servicehelps protect the environment. Through linking the Paperless Invoice to the UPS customer softwareWorldShip, customers can now easily get back to their data to ship international air freight in apaperless way,” said Mike Jaboi, newly-appointed Sales Manager for UPS Freight Forwarding inGermany.

UPS WorldShip is a full-featured, Windows-based shipping software which can use existingcustomer information of a company to create shipping labels and other forms and send them viaQuantum View Notify per E-mail. It records the billing information making the accounting moreefficient.

UPS was the first parcel carrier to offer electronic customs clearance for small packageshippers in January 2008. Since then, the company has extended its geographical coverage to morethan 90 destination countries accepting electronic customs data and to more than 70 in whichinternational export packages can be processed electronically.

Since the introduction of UPS Paperless Invoice for parcels in 2008, nearly 250 million sheetsof paper could be saved which equals 21,650 trees. By extending the service to air cargo, UPSexpects these numbers to increase further. UPS Paperless Invoice service for air freight has beenmade recently available via UPS Internet Shipping and UPS CampusShip software.

UPS Paperless Invoice is particularly suitable for industries specialised in industrialproduction and distribution as well as for companies related to retail, consumer goods,professional services, high-tech and other companies that deal regularly with internationalshipments.
