FedEx Trade Networks continues global expansion with new office in France

FedEx Trade Networks, the growing FedEx ocean and air freight forwarding business, has furtherexpanded its international network with a new office in Lyon, east-central France.

As part of the company’s ongoing expansion initiative, the office at the city’s Saint ExuperyAirport is the third FedEx Trade Networks facility in France adding to the existing air and oceanfreight forwarding offices in Paris and Le Havre.

FedEx said the new office will enable its customers to access major global markets, both inboundand outbound, as Lyon Airport is an important transport facility for the entire Rhone-Alpes regionhandling more than 300,000 tonnes of cargo per year. The city is also home to the Port de LyonEdouard Herriot, which is the largest inland container port in France for all modes of transport.The area has a dense network of roads and railways providing easy access to the whole ofEurope.

With the Lyon facility, customers in the region will benefit from the company’s wide range ofocean service options, in addition to flexible air freight forwarding solutions with variousvalue-added services. Other multimodal solutions offered by FedEx Trade Networks include customsbrokerage, purchase order management with Global Order Logistics, surface transportation,warehousing and distribution.

“Lyon is an important cargo hub that is strategically positioned in the heart of Europe,” saidPascal Raye, country manager of France. “With our new operations in Lyon, we will be able toprovide our customers in the region with the local support they need, while providing comprehensiveshipping solutions to our customers around the world who have business in France.”

Since 2008, the company has aggressively expanded its global network opening a total of 47offices throughout Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, in addition to its more than 70locations throughout the USA and Canada.
