TNT has become the leading freight operator in terms of shipping volumes in 2011 atMarseille-Provence Airport in southern France dethroning the previous leader Europe Airpost.
As the second largest airport after Paris in terms of volumes, Marseille airport has registeredrecord freight volumes for the fourth consecutive year with 53,000 tonnes of parcels handled in2011. Since 2006, this activity has increased by 30% boosted by express freight which represents88% of the volumes with 46,333 tonnes shipped in 2011.
TNT Express France said it handles nearly 30,000 domestic and international parcels daily at theairport that are delivered across France and abroad. The company operates daily flights to ParisCharles de Gaulle, Ajaccio, Bastia, Malta and Tunisia as well as Liège, its European hub.
Active at the airport for more than 18 years, TNT operates on a 5,000 sqm area, next to therunway. TNT employs 90 workers and 90 subcontracted drivers at Marseille airport. Overall, almost280 staff including regular workers and subcontractors work there.
