DHL Supply Chain has extended its ten-year partnership with Nikken, a UK-based manufacturer ofwellness articles, until 2014.
As part of the extended contract, DHL will be handling the complete distribution of Nikken’sproducts in Europe from its logistics facility in Essen, west-central Germany. Thereby, DHL willmanage the entire product range of Nikken, including bulky shipments such as mattress toppers andsmaller items like nutritional supplements.
To meet all customer requirements, the cooperation between DHL and Nikken includes procurementand distribution services provided by DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Express and DHL ParcelGermany.
The supply chain unit of DHL will take over all essential warehousing processes, from qualitycontrol of incoming goods to picking, packing and returns, if necessary. Due to the large number ofcountries to be served, the distribution for Nikken’s products is very complex, DHL said.Therefore, it also takes over the customs clearance formalities for non-EU shipments as they varyfrom country to country resulting in extensive document handling. In addition, DHL will be handlingthe entire range of value-added services for Nikken, for example labelling, repacking and puttingtogether the product set.
