APC Overnight appoints Syed Ziaullah as new CEO

British parcels carrier APC Overnight has named Syed Ziaullah, one of its senior managers, asits new Chief Executive Officer following the recent retirement of MD Ivor Skinner.

Ziaullah has been the company’s Operations Director since January 2008 and will lead a recentlyrestructured senior management team that will ensure APC continues its strong growth during thecurrent economic challenges, the company said.
 
APC turned over £58 million in the period 2010-2011 with pre-tax profits of £3.4 million. Itcurrently delivers 1.4 million parcels a month throughout the UK through its 120 strong network oflocal depots. APC’s premium services and reliability have been instrumental in helping hundreds ofcustomers grow their businesses. The “Handled with Care” services in particular have helped wine,beer and fine food retailers extend their reach across the UK.
 
“We have had fantastic success in growing the company over the past three years and we are ontrack to break all records in 2012. I am looking forward to helping APC build on this strongfoundation. It is a tough market, but we are proving to our customers that APC is the keyingredient they need to ensure the success of their own businesses. We are dedicated to providingthe best possible service for all our customers throughout the UK and will not falter in achievingour goal,” said Ziaullah.
 
Ziaullah has a wealth of hands-on experience inside and outside of APC. As APC OperationsDirector, he was responsible for driving operational improvements across the organisation, whichincluded the implementation of new systems as well as the modernisation of the trunking fleet withenvironmentally friendlier trucks, trailers and vans.
 
He will lead the project team for APC’s new purpose-built £14 million, 128,000 sq ft NationalHub at Kingswood Lake, Cannock, Staffordshire. The new hub will provide more than double thecapacity of the current site near Wolverhampton and will benefit from state-of-the art materialhandling systems, including a cross-belt sorter. APC will also expand its hub-based trunking fleetwith more bespoke double-decker trailers.
 
For nearly 30 years, Ziaullah has run his own courier company, County Couriers Ltd trading asAction Express in Northampton, which is an active member of the APC network. Action Express was oneof the original 53 shareholder depots that were involved in the formation of APC in 1994.
