Austrian Post has purchased 10 Kangoo Z.E. electric vehicles from Renault with a purely electricdrive and specific interior equipment to be deployed for deliveries all over Austria.
The city delivery van Kangoo Z.E. (zero emission) and the long version Kangoo Maxi Z.E. aretailored to the needs of commercial users and are especially suitable for delivery in urban areas.The vans are driven by a 44 kW/60 PS motor powered by a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery. This is placedon the floor so the cargo space is available without restriction.
“With a total of 9,000 vehicles including 18 double-track e-vehicles, 100 e-bicycles and 75E-mopeds, Austrian Post has the largest delivery fleet in Austria,” said Walter Hitziger,management board member responsible for mail at Austrian Post. “By 2015, we plan to integrate morethan 1,000 electric vehicles into the fleet. The final expansion of the e-fleet depends on thetechnical availability and suitability of vehicles for the postal business, but also on the fundingenvironment.”
Since 2011, all mail and parcels have been delivered in a CO2 neutral way all over Austria. “Ourtotal CO2 footprint is being reduced to zero in a three-stage process,” Hitziger added.
