PostNL reportedly eyes German private postal operator BWPost

PostNL is reportedly eyeing a stake in the German private operator BWPost to compete withDeutsche Post in order to strengthen its presence in the country where it is already represented

through its subsidiary TNT Post.

According to media reports, PostNL is currently in negotiations with BWPost about acquiring ashare of the company. The value of the potential stake has not been disclosed.

BWPost claims to be the largest private postal company in Baden-Württemberg, south-westernGermany, and the biggest competitor of Deutsche Post in the area with annual mail volumes of 30million shipments serving over 2,350 customers. Formed in 2009 by the merger of two regional mailcompanies, it also has decade-long experience of delivering over 350,000 newspapers per day.

Through partnerships, BWPost can offer its services nationwide (around 30% via Deutsche Post AG)and all over the world.

The services of BWPost range from picking up mail, parcels and international shipments,stamping, tracking through printing and enveloping services to electronic data processing throughits mail portal www.briefportal.net.
