FedEx uses pedal power in Paris

FedEx tricycles in Paris

FedEx Express France has deployed seven eco-friendly, zero-emissions tricycles for the deliveryand pick-up of shipments in three different districts of Paris, in cooperation with The Green Link,

the leading clean tech start-up in urban mobility.

The first four eco tricycles have already been tested in the streets of Paris since spring 2011successfully delivering documents and small parcels.

”Delivering in the most possible ecological way has always been important for FedEx in France.Since May 2010, we have thus been using five all-electric vehicles by Modec. At Roissy Charles deGaulle Airport in Paris, 80% of our ground vehicles run on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) orelectricity. This approach benefits both the environment and our business and reflects ourcommitment to carry out our daily activities in a responsible way,” said Dirk van Impe, DirectorOperations FedEx Express France.

“In addition to ensuring greener deliveries, the tricycles can be squeezed in the narrow streetsand often pedestrian areas of Paris. This allows us to be closer to some of our customers. Therefore, we are assessing future implementation of the vehicles in other European cities,” headded.

Throughout the world, FedEx is deploying all-electric vehicles in Los Angeles, London, Paris,New York, Chicago and Memphis. In 2011, the company, which has set itself the goal to improve theenergy efficiency of its vehicles by 20% by 2020, has expanded its fleet of electric and hybridvehicles to 408. The fleet has already covered nearly 15 million km. FedEx has thus savedapproximately 1,044,773 liters of fuel and reduced its CO2 emissions by nearly 2,800 tonnes.

Since 2010, The Green Link has been providing ecological urban mobility solutions to businesscustomers and local communities. It is committed to minimise the environmental impact of urbandeliveries by offering solutions to cities and city logistics players that combine clean transportwith overwhelming economic and communication gains. The company manufactures 100% electric 3-wheelbikes, zero emission and ultra low carbon vehicles to provide a time saving delivering solution incities where congestion is high.
