DHL Express opens major French depot at Mulhouse

The new DHL Express Mulhouse depot

DHL Express yesterday opened its third-largest depot in France at Mulhouse, close to the German andSwiss borders, at a cost of €1.7 million.



The 2,500 sqm facility at Mulhouse-Huningue employs 27 workers and is five times larger thanthe former site serving the area. It will handle more than 2,000 shipments a day. Internationalshipments to and from the region are transported via Basel-Mulhouse airport, which is served byfive weekly flights to Leipzig and five to East Midlands.

DHL Express France said the investment follows strong growth in the region, with volumes upby 30 per cent this year, and is the latest in a series of investments during 2011 totalling €8million. Mulhouse-Huningue is now the company’s third-largest site in France after those atVilleneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts de Seine) and Vitry-sur-Seine (Val de Marne).

Florence Noblot, managing director of DHL Express France, commented: “This new site has astrategic importance for our French network. It enables us to improve our service quality and torespond to the growth in regional volumes.”
