Swiss Post today named Susanne Ruoff, an experienced international manager from the informationtechnology sector, as its new CEO with effect from next September.
The 53-year-old Swiss-born economist will replace Jürg Bucher (64), who took up the post in2009 following the resignation of Michel Kunz and who will retire next year. She will join RoyalMail CEO Moya Greene as one of the very few women running a large postal operator in Europe orelsewhere in the world.
Swiss Post’s board of directors selected Ruoff due to her extensive leadership experience inlarge international corporations and her particular competence in the area of informationtechnology, firstly at IBM and currently at British Telecom in Switzerland.
Swiss Post, which is developing new digital services and aims to connect the electronic andphysical postal worlds, stressed that Ruoff will be able to crucially strengthen the organisation’sExecutive Management thanks to her competence in the field of technology.
Since April 2009 Susanne Ruoff has been Country Manager and CEO of BT Switzerland Ltd, whereshe has focused on expanding the key account business and on the acquisition of new clients. Shepreviously worked at IBM Switzerland for 20 years in the areas of marketing, sales and services,rising to become a member of the Executive Management and responsible for Global TechnologyServices.
Moreover, Ruoff developed close relationships with the Swiss Confederation and the FederalAuthorities, and acquired solid experience in the interaction with differing cultures andmentalities, a factor that played an important role in her appointment.
Susanne Ruoff has a diploma in economy and an Executive Master of Business Administration(MBA) in Telecommunications from Fribourg University. She graduated from INSEAD (France) with aClient Executive degree and at the University of St. Gallen attended courses of further educationon “Corporate Governance in Executive Boards”. She is married and has two children.
