Bpost and Chinese e-commerce partner Trade2CN have signed an agreement to create a two-way B2Conline trading platform giving e-retailers better access to consumers in Europe and China.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two companies in Beijing as part of aneconomic mission to the People’s Republic of China headed by Belgium’s Prince Philippe.
Trade2CN is a Chinese e-commerce platform which brings together over 40,000 companies and brandsin China. It is a branch company of China International Economic Commerce Center (CIECC), which isan affiliated organization under the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China(MOFCOM).
With over 1 billion consumers and companies, China is a huge growth region, especially due tothe explosive increase in online selling. Thousands of Chinese companies market their productsonline (e-tailers) and are looking for ways to reach customers in Europe and elsewhere in aconvenient and reliable manner.
bpost said it aims to work with Trade2CN to offer Chinese e-tailers a B2C trading platform inthe near future for their products and vice versa for the European e-tailers. Wherever they are,buyers will receive their purchases at home safely and securely through bpost international, at atransparent all-in price and with all formalities properly fulfilled.
Signing the MOU on behalf of bpost, Peter Somers, member of bpost’s Executive Committee and headof bpost parcels & international, said: “bpost is taking advantage of the great possibilitiesoffered by e-commerce. Partnerships with local partners give us access to foreign growth markets.With today’s Memorandum of Understanding, bpost is taking a major step forward on the Chinesemarket. We expect to be able to bring the B2C trading platform for Chinese e-tailers on stream inthe coming months, together with Trade2CN.”
Early 2012, bpost will open a commercial office in Beijing to facilitate its local contacts. Asone of the top five international postal services provides, bpost international is present on 3continents, has 400 employees and handles more than 340 million items a year.
