TNT Express Germany has signed a cooperation agreement with biotech company BioKryo, aspecialist in temperature-controlled storage of biological samples.
BioKryo, a branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering (IBMT), storeshigh-value biological samples for clients worldwide on a long-term basis. These are maintained in asecure environment for future diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The biotech firm usesvarious storage technologies such as FCT to maintain a temperature of -140° if required.
Under the open-ended agreement, TNT Express will transport these highly-sensitive samples fromclients around the world to BioKryo’s storage facilities. This will include use of its ClinicalExpress exclusive services, such as the Medpak Frozen packaging that uses dry ice to ensuretemperatures as low as -79.5°. If required, TNT Express can use its Dry Shipper containers thatmaintain a constant temperature of -180°.

BioKryo GmbH is based in Sulzbach, close to Saarbrücken.
