DPD expands services and operations in central Europe

DPD mobile option

DPD is strengthening its presence in central Europe with a new online tracking option inAustria, a new depot and AOE certificate in Hungary and a new CEO in Switzerland.

In Austria, DPD customers can now profit from the possibility of checking the progress of theirshipments from their mobile phones at mobile.dpd.at. It provides customers with mobile access toDPD’s online services, along with the relaunch of the dpd.at website.

Users can access the mobile website by entering mobile.dpd.at into the address line of theirmobile browser with no additional installation being required. The shipment tracking function hasbeen adapted technically and simplified for the mobile website. A route planner is also availableto users.

“For us it’s important that the enquiry function which enables customers to check on the statusof their parcel is available right round-the-clock and from any location. The aim of the relaunchof www.dpd.at was to ensure the ongoing optimisation of theuser-friendliness of the homepage, and to make a targeted response to individual customerrequirements,” explained Rainer Schwarz, CEO of DPD Austria.

Meanwhile, in Hungary, DPD opened a new depot in Kapuvár, located in Gyor-Moson-Sopron County,north-western Hungary, on the border with Slovakia and Austria, bringing the number of its depotsin the country to 18 in total. The 250 sqm depot has been designed for daily operating needs and isnot suitable for warehousing or storage.

In recognition of its efforts, DPD Hungary has received the AEO-S (Authorised EconomicOperator-Security) certificate for providing enhanced security and ensuring faster customsclearance. “AEO status is an important step for DPD Hungary and proves the quality of our processeswith a view to increasing our ability to develop and improve. We have always attached greatimportance to safe transport, but formal certification is a proof that the company complies withthe necessary financial and safety regulations,” said Csilla Hosszú, DPD Hungary’s ManagingDirector.

In Switzerland, DPD has appointed Marc Hasler as the new CEO in place of Georges Champoud fromJanuary 1, 2012. Champoud, who has led the company since 2004, will retire in the second half of2012. Hasler is currently head of DPD in Belgium/Luxembourg and previously worked as Sales andMarketing Director at DPD Switzerland from September 2005 until the end of 2007.
