New top managers at SingPost, UPS and TNT

Singapore Post, UPS and TNT Express have made various executive and senior managerialappointments at the beginning of October.

SingPost has named Wolfgang Baier, who has been leading the group’s international business sinceFebruary this year, as the Group’s CEO with immediate effect. In his new role as the head ofSingapore’s postal operator, Baier will support the group’s transformation efforts to become aregional company, with logistics and e-commerce as its key growth engines.

As part of the new structure, the current Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer Ng Hin Lee willassume the position of the Group’s CFO. He will be responsible for the Group’s strategicacquisitions.

Lim Ho Kee, Chairman of SingPost, said: “Postal organisations, including SingPost, arestruggling to sustain a declining mail business. SingPost has been fortunate to have started itstransformation early and we have benefitted from good GDP growth along with population growth. Atthis phase of the Group’s transformation, the Board recognises the need to strengthen the SingPostmanagement as it broadens its horizons into new geographies and businesses. In the short term, wewill need to invest in the right capabilities to build a diversified, regional business.”

Also in Singapore, UPS has appointed Ingrid Sidiadinoto to manage its activities in the countryfocusing on all express delivery and logistics operations. A 12-year veteran of UPS, Sidiadinotomost recently has served as director of industrial engineering for UPS’s South Asia District. Inaddition to leading business expansions in India and Vietnam, she led efficiency improvements andcost-saving initiatives in operations, buildings and facilities in various South Asia Districtcountries.

“Sidiadinoto has excelled in various leadership positions within UPS,” said KK Leung, president,South Asia District, UPS Asia Pacific Region.  “With her knowledge and expertise, we areconfident she will further develop UPS’s business in Singapore, a key strategic market for thecompany.”

In Germany, Frank Sportolari has been appointed as country manager in place of Stefan Schürfeldwho will become the head of the UPS Transport Network in Europe. Originally from Chicago,Sportolari has been working with UPS all over Europe for 25 years. He will be responsible foroperations, strategy and business development in Germany which is the largest UPS market outsidethe USA with 15,000 staff. Schürfeld, who has worked for UPS for 29 years, previously held variousmanagerial positions, mostly in Germany.

At TNT Express, Chong Siang Chung was appointed as the Managing Director of TNT Malaysia &Brunei with immediate effect. Based in Petaling Jaya, he manages over 600 employees and isresponsible for overall TNT operations in Malaysia & Brunei. He is the first Malaysian to beinternally appointed as TNT Managing Director since the establishment of TNT Malaysia in 1976.
