TNT Post UK, the largest private sector postal operator in the UK, has launched a new packetsand parcels delivery service following demand from e-retailers for a reliable and cost effective
service to satisfy their expanding online customer base.The new service is expected to be 5-10% cheaper than Royal Mail and is targeting about 17million items in the first year of operation. TNT Post currently handles more than 200 millionpostal items a month.
The launch customer will be Guernsey Post and well-known high street brands will use the servicewith their deliveries being handled by TNT Post UK. TNT Post UK said it will target vendors who usewebsites sites such as Kelkoo and ebay to promote their products.

TNT Post UK has invested in new automatic sorting machines in its Iver depot for the new packetsand parcels service, One of the innovations for the new service is real time management informationwhere clients will be able to apply barcodes to their packets which enables progress to bemonitored online. This will reduce the product attrition and improve customer service leadingultimately to the retailer saving money.
TNT Post UK has also simplified the customer experience through introducing flexible collectiontimes that suit the customer with no need to separate domestic and international items.
