Hermes Fulfilment, the e-commerce unit of the Hermes Group, has launched a new online shop forthe German fashion label Arqueonautas that was opened by Hollywood star Kevin Costner.
The online shop, created by Hermes NexTec GmbH, which is specialised in developing and operatingweb shops for the fashion and lifestyle industry, was launched at a ceremony on the holiday islandof Sylt in cooperation with actor and singer Kevin Costner who is promoting the Arqueonautasproducts.
Arqueonautas sells maritime-themed high quality clothes for everyday use. Its collections aredeveloped in cooperation with leading divers, and €1 from every sale is re-invested in protectingthe maritime landscape. As the maritime label of the Kitaro Fashion Group, Arqueonautas has beenavailable only in its flagship stores in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover and Dresden untilnow as well as through 700 selected trading partners.
Hermes NexTec’s core competences range from shop management and content management tocross-media marketing. Arqueonautas is the first customer it developed such an e-commerce solutionfor.
“Www.arqueonautas.de offers all the advantages of a modern online shop including easy navigationand search, fast handling and free shipping,” said Holger Lendner, who manages Hermes NexTec,together with Peter Hofmann. “Our goal was to provide the end customer a comprehensive shoppingexperience with proven shop functionalities, complemented by an innovative online magazine.”
The central component is NexTec’s own shop solution. “Our software is a modular open-sourcee-commerce platform. It allows adjusting content, data structures and advertising to the needs ofindividual customers in a flexible way,” Hofmann added. Through integrated reporting tools, currentanalyses on clearance sales and customer behavior can be viewed.
Operational processes of the Arqueonautas online shop including storage, returns management,call centre and distribution are handled by Hermes Fulfilment. The services of Hermes NexTec havealways been part of the overall service range of Hermes Fulfilment but had been purchasedexternally. “The establishment of this company-internal expertise rounds off our portfolio as afull-service provider,” said Dieter Urbanke, Hermes Fulfillment CEO.
The Austrian clothing manufacturer Wolford will switch its webshops in 14 countries to the newe-commerce solution from September onwards. The company has been using online trade services ofHermes Fulfilment since 2009.
