TNT Express links up China, SE Asia road networks

TNT Asia Road Network

TNT Express announced today it has successfully integrated its road networks in China and SoutheastAsia, enabling end-to-end shipping between the two growth regions.



After one year of testing, the company’s Chinese day-definite domestic road network, operatedby TNT Hoau, has been connected with its international Asia Road Network (ARN), thus creating “theonly scheduled pan-Asia day-definite road network”, covering China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos,Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Created in 2005, TNT Express’ Asia Road Network (ARN) now spans over seven countries,including China. The enlarged road network will provide customers in China and Southeast Asia withdoor-to-door import and export road freight solutions.

“TNT Express is a recognised expert in day-definite road deliveries,” said Marie-ChristineLombard, CEO of TNT Express. “With the integration of TNT’s two major road networks in Asia, wewill strengthen our position in this market, whilst providing our customers with a cost-effectivedelivery solution complementary to air freight delivery.”

With the new service, a company based in Shanghai, for example, can ship its products toSoutheast Asia using TNT Hoau’s Day-Definite network. The goods will first arrive in Guangzhou, inthe Chinese province of Guangdong, within two days and in Pingxiang, on the border with Vietnam,the next day. Upon completion of customs formalities, the shipment will arrive in Hanoi on the samenight. With its Asia Road Network, TNT Express can deliver the goods to 127 cities in Vietnam,Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore within another 1-4 days.

TNT Express offers both international and domestic delivery services to, from and withinChina. Its day-definite road freight service in China is up to 50 per cent cheaper than airfreight, while taking only 1-3 more days for arrival. The service has been adopted by customers inthe high-tech, automation and industrial manufacturing sectors. TNT’s Day-Definite ground servicenow consists of 492 road routes and covers 209 large and middle-sized cities.

TNT Express also operates an extensive road network in Europe and has developed road freightservices in the Middle East and South America alongside its air networks. The company has a fleetof about 30,000 road vehicles and 50 aircraft.
