Spanish express delivery firm MRW has been selected by TOYS “R” US to provide logistics anddelivery services for the US games firm’s new online shops in Spain and Portugal.
The world’s largest children’s toys company is the established market leader in Spain and nowaims to secure the same position for online sales within the next 18 months.
Under the contract, TOYS “R” US customers ordering online from the new webshops will be ableto choose from a full range of MRW delivery services, including guaranteed next-day expressdelivery or picking up the goods from a nearby MRW franchise outlet.
MRW said it has secured 2,500 sqm of warehousing space in Coslada, close to Madrid, to useexclusively for warehousing and stock picking for the company. The facility will be able to copewith up to 10,000 orders per day but with flexibility for larger volumes at peak times.
The Spanish firm will provide all distribution services in Spain and Portugal as well asAndorra and Gibraltar.
MRW, with sales of €563 million in 2010, is making a strong push into the e-commercelogistics market.
