Belgian postal operator bpost has agreed to take over DSV’s customs clearance service forinternational mail and parcels in Belgium.
The strong growth in parcels is part of the company’s e-commerce strategy and customs clearancefor these parcels is a key aspect of the strategy of presenting a complete solution to clients,bpost stated.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in February 2012. Some 35 DSV employees currentlyinvolved in this service will be taken over by bpost.
DSV gained the parcels and mail customs clearance operation in Belgium as part of itsacquisition of ABX Logistics several years ago. The Danish group’s core businesses are roadtransportation and air and sea freight forwarding.
