DHL Supply Chain has been awarded a two-year contract extension with Swedish telecommunicationscompany Telia to handle its national spare parts logistics.
DHL continues to be responsible for the time-critical handling of spare parts needed for repairsand maintenance of the Telia’s fixed broadband networks. The value of the new contract was notdisclosed.
“DHL Supply Chain meets the high quality demands from Telia on time-critical deliveries. Overthe years, we have refined the spare parts logistics, including a new customised web solution thatsupports the entire supply chain,” said Jan Flyckt, Senior Commercial Manager at DHL Supply ChainSweden.
DHL Supply Chain will also handle customer-placed equipment such as switches and routers, andmanage the administration and returns management processes to the repair shops.
Handling and logistics of spare parts requires specialist expertise as the products are bothvaluable and sensitive. Stock level management and distribution are handled from DHL’s logisticscenter in Rosersberg, north of Stockholm, and from 17 local depots for same-day deliveries acrossthe country. The logistics centre in Rosersberg is designed for Electro Static Discharge (ESD)management that protects the sensitive spare parts from damage and electrostatic discharge.
