Austrian Post has merged its mail and retail network divisions with effect from 1 September in anew division called “Letters, advertising mail and branches” to further improve services and create
synergies.Walter Hitziger, management board member at Austrian Post, responsible for mail, explained: “Thenew division incorporates the whole delivery process of a letter – from submitting it in the postoffice to the delivery by the postman.”
He named three key issues that the Austrian postal operator wants to focus on including theexpansion of its branch network with its financial services partner Bawag PSK and its PostPartners, increasing efficiency both in its retail network and delivery as well as targetingconsumers more intensively.
As one of the projects targeting consumers, Austrian Post will start trial operations of itspostal reception boxes, enabling 2,800 households in Vienna to receive parcels and large letters,even if no one is at home.
