Purolator doubles its US presence

Purolator International has announced that it will open 10 new branch offices during 2011, doublingits presence in the USA.



The company, a subsidiary of Canada Post-owned express parcels operator Purolator, said itslatest round of regional office expansions is indicative of the surge in demand for logisticsexperience and expertise in transporting goods between the United States and Canada.

At the beginning of 2011, Purolator operated 10 branch offices across the United States, andeight of them are located in the top 14 markets for trade with Canada. By the end of the year, thecompany will have opened ten more offices, which will give Purolator a presence in 18 of the top 20markets for bilateral trade between the two countries.

So far this year, the company has already opened branches in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati,Cleveland, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and San Francisco. Three more offices, in Houston, Miami andMilwaukee, are scheduled to open later this year.

Purolator said its growth comes at a time when US businesses are increasingly looking toCanada as a source of new customers and economic opportunity. US exports to Canada totaled morethan $250 billion during 2010, and are on track to surpass that amount during 2011. In total, morethan $1 billion in goods cross the US/Canadian border each day.

“The expansion of Purolator will solidify our role as the choice logistics provider forservice to Canada,” said Purolator Vice President for Field Sales and Service Quality John Sweeney.“ No other logistics company has the commitment, the resources and the expertise in the Canadianmarket as Purolator.” He added: “Businesses choose Purolator because we are the recognised name inCanadian logistics. Other companies claim to have cross border experience, but when it comes downto it, few can match our capabilities.”
