Kerry Logistics drives into automotive sector with new logistics centre in Eastern China

Leading Asian forwarding and logistics group Kerry Logistics has opened a new logistics centrein Hefei, China, to focus on the growing automotive industry in Anhui Province, located in the east

of the country.

The 20,000 sqm facility is customised for the increasing number of automobile manufacturers inthe Hefei region with a wide range of specialist logistics solutions available at the facility. Thespecialist services include VMI, sub-assembly and kitting, JIT delivery, milk run transportationand various value-added services, such as functional testing, CKD or SKD operations.

“Demand has been growing from our automotive customers in Hefei for us to deliver specialistautomotive logistics services and we have now opened the Kerry Hefei Logistics Centre to enhanceour offering to the car manufacturing community in Anhui,” said Edwardo Erni, Managing Director,Mainland China.

Kerry Hefei Logistics Centre is 3.5 km away from Hefei Luogang International Airport and closeto express highways linking to Hening, Hewu, Hehuang and Hexu. There is also a railway connectionto Hejiu, Heband, Ningxi, Huhanrong and Jingfu.

Situated in the Economic and Technological Development Zone, the logistics centre comprises fivewarehouses, four of which are already in use. The fifth, 5,000 sqm warehouse will be operational bythe end of 2011.

Last month, Kerry Logistics was selected by the UK retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S), oneof the UK’s leading retailers of clothing, home products and foods, as its logistics partner inGreater China. The contract includes logistics services across the supply chain of M&S, fromsuppliers’ pick-up to direct delivery to retail stores across the region.
