UPS has partnered with the American rock band O.A.R for its summer concert tour to providesustainable transportation with the aim to help touring musical artists reduce their transportation
CO2 carbon footprint.The agreement follows a multi-year sponsorship alliance UPS signed in May with Live NationEntertainment, the leading live entertainment and e-commerce company, to promote its eco-friendlylogistics solutions to millions of music fans and touring artists across North America. Through thedeal, UPS has become the exclusive shipping and logistics sponsor of Live Nation Entertainment. Italso serves as an Official Sustainability Partner of Live Nation Entertainment, with both partiesworking together to reduce waste and use more efficient products.
O.A.R’s latest concert tour began in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 6 and will conclude inAtlanta on Sept. 3. UPS’s first step in helping the band required a detailed assessment of O.A.R.’sexisting transportation carbon footprint, which involved an analysis of the size, weight anddimensions of all the equipment needed for the tour, the mode of transport used and the route anddistance travelled. UPS used the data to develop a logistics strategy to drive down waste, increaseefficiency and reduce emissions during the tour’s 28 events across the U.S. When the tour iscompleted, UPS will purchase and retire certified carbon offsets to mitigate any remaining CO2emissions, making the transportation aspects of the tour carbon neutral.
